Shop FAQ

Do you take commissions?

You bet I do! My most popular commission is a family portrait for $400+ tax and shipping. This price includes up to 4 characters and 2 pets in U&O style. It’s full color on 8” x 10” hot press watercolor paper and includes a high quality digital image. Turnaround time is 4 weeks, but my timeline can be accelerated for the right price :B

I also draw custom U&O tattoos, personal greeting cards, images for reading campaigns, and pet portraits. Email me to discuss any of these options (jackie@underpantsandoverbites.com)

Please note: I do not illustrate other people’s narratives (i.e. children’s books!!) Okay, unless you got like $10k - every artist has their price. I also can’t write a diary comic for you. Like you as the first person narrator. I’ve tried and it just doesn’t work.

What if there’s a print I want but I can’t find it in your store?

Email me! (jackie@underpantsandoverbites.com) I’d be happy to help get you (and your wall) the print you both want. I just don’t have all the comics listed because it would’ve taken another year to get this shop up. *phew*

I own a store and want to sell your cute stuff in it. How do I go about that?

Email me about this too! (jackie@underpantsandoverbites.com) If you run a little (or big!) store, I’d be delighted to be on your shelves. Let me know what you’re looking for and I can get you some tasty wholesale prices.

General FAQ

How do you make your comics?

I make all my comics traditionally with ink and watercolor. (Like an art dinosaur!) Then I scan them and feed ‘em to the Internet. Here are all the tools I use:

  • I draw everything with a Cross mechanical pencil named Goldie who I found in a soccer field when I was 8. She is one of my prized possessions.
  • I ink everything with black Microns. I love sizes 08, 05, and PN.
  • I paint everything with Winsor & Newton tube watercolor paints on an enamel frog dissection tray as my palette.
  • I use Escoda Watercolor brushes sizes 2, 4, 6, and 10.
  • I paint on Fabriano 140 lb Bright White Hot Press Paper.
  • I scan my comics with an Epson Perfection V39 scanner.
  • Then I edit them in Photoshop on my very reluctant ASUS laptop circa 2015, with a Bamboo Tablet and pen.

Can I share your comics on my page?

Sure, as long as it’s not for commercial purposes, share away! But please be sure to credit me so people know where to find more of my work. If it is for commercial purposes, drop me a line and we can figure out a fee. Yum yum. (jackie@underpantsandoverbites.com)

How does Pat feel about being portrayed in your comics?

I always ask permission before I make a comic about him, so I know he feels safe in how I represent him. But also, he loves it! Although sometimes he’s a little disturbed by the character that reflects back at him and he realizes he needs to put on pants more often etc.

Do you teach? Or give presentations?

Heck yeah, I love teaching! I’ve taught 3 one-credit comics courses at a local university. I’ve taught several week-long workshops, and have taught countless courses at libraries and literary clubs. Email me with your proposal and we can work out a quote.

What’s your favorite snack?

Oh gosh, they’re are so many to choose from. But when I watch a movie, I love a big bowl of buttery popcorn with a cool glass of half orange juice and half seltzer water on the side. Mmm mmm.
